Costa Rica has just recently been ‘discovered’ as a fabulous golf destination. Within the Central Valley near the capital, San José, there are four courses, and there are now five courses on the Pacific coast.

Costa Rica's newest Championship course was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in the spring of 2004. The 6,788 yard par 72 is set on the Papagayo Peninsula with cool, and prevailing breezes. Four Seasons Golf Club Costa Rica boasts views of the Pacific Ocean and Culebra Bay from 14 of its 18 holes.

This Arnold Palmer signature golf course has wide, undulating fairways with large and contoured greens, providing a fair and challenging test of your golf finesse.

No expense was spared in the design and construction of the Arnold Palmer golf course. In fact, many experts and golf lovers hail the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica Golf Club as one of the top courses in Latin America, both because of its brilliant design and the setting’s enormous natural beauty. The course is planted entirely with a relatively new type of grass called Paspalum, which is very heat tolerant and can be irrigated with salt water.

The front side of the golf course is set up with three par 3s, 4s, and 5s. The back is the traditional setup of five par 4s, two par 3s and two par 5s.

The course has five sets of tees, that is, five different options in course length depending upon the golfer’s level of skill. The five total distances in yards are:

Four Seasons facilities include a driving range and putting green, along with a dramatic clubhouse, which houses a pro shop, elegant locker rooms and the ocean-view restaurant, Caracol. Golf instruction and club rentals are also available.

The Resort offers a tour of the course, a twilight golf session and several golf clinics. Enquire at the Concierge or the Pro Shop for details.

The Pro Shop is open from 6:15 am to 6:00 pm and tee times are offered from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Clubs and shoes are available for rent. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
